CASTLE COMBE is high in speed and high in action. The track is a good length of nearly two miles, but spectator facilities are not the best if you want comfort. Viewing however is plentiful with banking at most points. Crowds seem to flock to Castle Combe so plenty of time should be allowed for getting there early and claiming your spot.

This is another of the UK's close action circuits and is well worth travelling a distance to see what's on offer. If you get the chance to take part in a track day it will be superbly enjoyable, although watch out for Quarry Corner. It's tighter than you think.

VIEWING -
The paddock area is after Camp Corner with cafe and toilets. The paddock is usually accessible. Castle circuit has plenty of spectator banking from which a large proportion of the circuit can be seen.

Start/Finish STRAIGHT
Small straight between Camp and Folly.
Viewing from Paddock although you are better off moving down towards Folly.

FOLLY
Continuation of the straight slightly uphill.
Outfield raised bank viewing

AVON RISE & QUARRY CORNER
From Folly Avon rise is a fast left hander uphill with no braking. Then straight down hill after the apex into Quarry, a sharp right hander with tyre wall close on exit.
Viewing is on the outfield with spectator banking at Quarry exit. Good point to see action from those misjudging the corner. Good camera point.

FARM STRAIGHT
Short straight to the new Esses.
Outfield viewing of accelerating before Esses.

THE ESSES
Short left curve in right-left flick. Drivers/riders try to flatten the Esses but can over-run the outfield curve onto run-off.
Outfield viewing

OLD PADDOCK BEND
Long right taken at speed.
Spectator banking on outfield bend entry point. Possible overtaking attempts which can cause vehicles to run off track.

HAMMERDOWN
Exactly as the name suggests. Flat-out long left curve.
Viewing on outfield, although vehicle speed means they're only in shot for a short time.

TOWER CORNER
Long right curve with braking on the slight downhill entry and no run-off area to outfield, followed by sweeping uphill.
The outfield has spectator bank which is close to the track. It's a good camera point.

BOBBIES
More of a fast chicane really with possible flat out lines being taken.
Outfield viewing.

WESTWAY and DEAN STRAIGHT
Another high speed flick followed by straight to the tight Camp Corner. This makes Tower to Camp a straight with small direction changes that don't inhibit speed.
Outfield viewing.

CAMP CORNER
Notorious for shunts between the pit and paddock entrances.
Spectator banking on the outfield makes this an excellent viewing point, particularly on close last-lap races.
