Goodwood Circuit Layout
GOODWOOD - track length
2.4miles
3.8 km
VIEWING -
An old circuit for old and new machinery. The track follows the faithful lines of the original and was formed from an airfield perimeter road. As a reminder of the good old days this is where Stirling Moss (All round nice guy), ended his racing career after an accident. When an event is advertised and you feel like a bit of nostalgia - or making yourself feel old then get along to Goodwood.

START/FINISH & MADGWICK CORNER
Long straight creating a fast approach to Madgwick a double apex right hander which on a gentle uphill incline.
Madgwick spectator banking.

FORDWATER
A near flat our right curve, but requires bottle on part of the driver. The apex is a brow followed by gentle downhill section.
Banking before Forwater entry point and then no viewing thereafter.

ST MARY'S
After Fordwater the track stays as a long right curve which tightens substantially into the sharp left hander at St Mary's with plenty of needed run-off.

LAVANT CORNER & LAVANT STRAIGHT
Lavant is another double-apex. This right-hander has drivers clipping both infield apex for accelerating along the very long Lavant Straight.

WOODCOTE CORNER
Moderate speed right hander with limited run-off into Chicane thus light braking on exit.

HAIRPIN
The Hairpin is naturally the slowest part of the circuit, but great for viewing last millisecond braking in an effort to gain valuable time.
Spectator banking on outfield entry

THE CHICANE
Right and left that looks far tighter than it really is. Cars will slow slightly but maintain a lot of speed for the start/finish straight.
