| KNOCKHILL is one of the most exciting circuits in the UK. It's in
the middle of nowhere on a varying gradient track. Racing can be in either direction and no matter whether it's cars or bikes the
racing is fantastic. You can get close to the circuit at most points, although the infield hill affords unrivalled viewing. |

VIEWING -
As a hill side circuit it offers superb views on track and off. Weather can be extreme so go prepared as there's little cover. Racing can
be in either direction. The central mound on the infield is an excellent viewing point but many other places around the track offer very
close action. We can't stress enough that if you can make the trip Knockhill is a fantastic day out for real race enthusiasts.
Start/Finish STRAIGHT On the main straight with the back of the grid down the incline and cannot see over the brow.
Viewing from infield is excellent although the brow affects distance. Get close up at the start.
DUFFUS DIP Downhill from the start Duffus presents a further gradient down right then flowing into a very fast left.
If you want to be thrilled stand on the outfield at the first corner on the first lap. The cars come down to Duffus so fast you'll think
they won't make it and are aiming straight at you. Brilliant!
McINTYRE After the unsettling twist of Duffus it's immediate braking for this 90 degree right hander. Corner cutting is not
a good idea, but the track width can see an off if it's a two (or more) car shoot-out for the corner.
Viewed best from the outfield, either nearer Duffus or Butchers.
BUTCHERS Complex dip right and sharp uphill left into Chicane. Track position is everything here as it dictates how the
chicane is taken, or not!
Outfield viewing fairly close. You can see from Duffus to Brabham Straight.
GLENVARIGILL Right hand 70 degree bend made very complex because it's a blind brow.
On the outfield this is superb. The cars can literally fly over the chicane with many not making it onto the track for Brabhams. Excellent
camera position as long as you're fast.
BRABHAMS Inter-connecting flat straight to Clark. It is possible for a car, having misjudged the Chicane to drive along the
outfield run-off and rejoin.
Drivers/Riders have either got it right or very wrong exiting the chicane and need perfect positioning to take Clark at speed. You're
close to the action on the outfield and it's not unknown for vehicles to overturn as well as overshoot from the chicane.
CLARK An 80 degree right on a rise which obscures view as straight after the track bends left. Even so this is a fast corner
and needs to be so if drivers are to get the best speed along Hislop.
Outfield viewing good with vehicles trying to gain speed for Hislop. Close viewing on outfield and the infield mound.
HISLOP A very fast slight left curve, forming the back straight. Speeds are as high as drivers/riders commitment as the
impending Taylors requires perfect position on entry.
Highest speed point on circuit best viewed from Taylors infield or outfield.
TAYLORS 160 degree right slight uphill entry then long uphill exit.
Covered grandstand on outfield bend also along close open views from Railway. The infield mound is another good viewpoint although
some distance front he action. Close-up action of late braking overtaking and more. Exit is crucial for vehicles and many don't make it
taking others with them. Excellent camera position at slower speeds with massive action. One of the best corners in the UK.
ACCESS -
The paddock is on the outfield behind the start/finish line. It's fairly tight for space and can get very
busy on Touring Car days. Access to the actual cars is good. The paddock has a cafe and there are toilets at various locations. There's also
plenty of mobile food. |
