MALLORY PARK Looking at the circuit map the fact that Mallory is an oval does little justice to its real appeal. Racing can be either direction and is used by bikes and cars alike. Another excellent spectator circuit as the infield lake means no obstruction other than the paddock for viewing the whole oval. When the loop is used it changes Mallory significantly as machines travel at immense speeds to be first at the banked Shaw hairpin.

Set in Leicestershire, Mallory is accessible to all and is an excellent high-speed venue.

VIEWING -
High speed circuit which can see racing in either direction, although they've yet to do it in the same race! Gerards curve is a never ending right. Shaws Hairpin is steeply banked, very tight and always full of spectators for the action. There are few covered areas so wrap up when you visit. Mallory is a small distance from Donington but is worlds apart in terms of close-up action.

Viewing is excellent because of the central lake and what it lacks in Doningtons facilities it more than makes up for in action and variety of racing.
KIRKBY STRAIGHT
Plenty of action particularly on last laps of the full circuit with neck and neck racing from the Devils Elbow as it's a very short blast for the line.
Plenty of outfield space for viewing the whole oval circuit, with every neck straining to see who will exit Devils in front.

GERARDS
A very long right travelling around the lake. Many riders/drivers never lift off due to the length, making it a spectacular piece of track.
Best viewed from Kirkby Straight as standing areas are limited and you can still see those who have too much speed for the exit as they run very wide.

STEBBE STRAIGHT
Long very fast straight if Gerards has been exited cleanly. If not it means a significant loss of pace over the front runners which makes catch even more exiting through the next section.
Outfield viewing is available, although the speed means little action.

LAKE ESSES
High speed right then left. A deceptive corner as many try too hard to gain speed from Stebbe Straight and their line sees them over the outfield kerb.
Viewing from outfield banking, but it's better to be nearer Shaws for a closer view.

SHAWS
From the map it looks relatively straight forward, but it's anything but. This is a very slow right 180 degree hairpin on a tight camber. The braking point is crucial to negotiate it for a good exit speed. Riders knee sliders can touch to inner kerb as they try to stay low on the camber.
Gets very busy on race days and for good reason. As a short circuit there's plenty of attempts to overtake and some go so slow they just fall off their bikes, thankfully with minimal injury. If you've got a camera this is the place to be.

DEVILS ELBOW
Last lap action is guaranteed as there's enough time to gain speed from Shaws to make last ditch overtaking for the close finish line. Races have been won and lost out of Shaws and into Devils.
Best viewed from Kirkby Straight on the outfield.

ACCESS -
The paddock is small and situated on the infield. There's a bridge over the circuit with usually free access. The paddock also holds a cafe and toilets although facilities are available around the track.
