| SNETTERTON Another airfield circuit but superb non-the-less.
Accessible to most of the UK quite easily although motorways have passed Norfolk by. On paper Snetterton looks unimpressive
but on track it's a different matter with fast flowing action and plenty of spectator interest points. It's been substantially altered
over the years with improvements to facilities. Like Donington the Sunday market can cause delays in access, but it's worth a
visit for the Touring Cars and much more. |

VIEWING -
The best spectating is at the slower points between Esses and the Finish line. The circuit is improving its facilities and has fewer
restrictions for racing than most so there's usually something going on most weekends. Racing is clockwise.
SENNA STRAIGHT A long straight holding the start/finish line which is mid-way between Russell and Riches. Vehicles
can attain high speeds to Riches even from the start.
Viewing on infield and outfield, although you would be better nearer to Russell's or Riches. Grandstand at Riches.
RICHES CORNER A very fast open 90 degree right with minimal braking. It's not an easy corner to negotiate as using
the wrong line will see cars taking to the run-offs. Out of Riches there's a straight to Sear.
Good viewing from outfield, although the speed means little opportunity to see cars for long.
SEAR CORNER A brilliant bend to watch, and difficult to negotiate, due to the high speed gained through Riches and
along the interconnecting straight. All that speed needs scrubbing but drivers have to ensure their braking point is perfect as many
overtaking opportunities are available before and after the corner. The outfield exit has a rough run-off which gets plenty of use.
Although there's often action it's very quick so possibly worth a walk up to but don't spend the event there.
REVETT STRAIGHT So long it feels never ending then suddenly drivers have to turn in to The Esses. There's plenty of
overtaking, but some cars get really left behind if they haven't got the line perfect through Sear.
Little of interest.
THE ESSES The Esses arrive very quickly off the straight under the bridge and many cars misjudge how tight it is
through enthusiasm or trying to overtake which is very possible all the way through this sharpening left and tight right. Those who
make a mistake run off onto the escape road on the infield, but most can rejoin is they miss the tire wall.
Excellent viewing from the bridges far side with masses of action. The corner is an 'incident waiting to happen'.
BOMB HOLE The bomb hole is a double apex right which can be taken at high speed. Cars are still accelerating out
of the Esses and some still fighting for position. Many cars drive over outfield kerb either hoping to gain speed or misjudged the
tightening curve.
Good views from the outfield with views over to The Esses.
CORUM CURVE Corum is a long right hander which can see faster cars sliding to the outfield. They need to consider
setting up for the next hazard at Russell which involves a braking point at Corum's exit. If they're still turning when they brake vehicles
can get wheels off the track.
Outfield banking gives an excellent view.
RUSSELL BEND This is a very tight chicane which can't be cut due to the gravel trap on the outfield. It's a tight flick
right then left back onto Senna Straight.
Plenty of viewing with probable action. Good camera point.
ACCESS -
The paddock is on the infield before the start/finish line. Access is usually free and a cafe is
open for events. |
